Atlanta, GA – The family of former U.S. Surgeon General Dr. David Satcher started attending family reunions in 2000, but this year they will have over 150 family members attend their best party yet, thanks to one family member who won an essay contest.

Kathleen Satcher Wright of Huntsville, AL said she entered the contest at the very last minute, and her entry was selected as the grand prize winner of the 2009 KFC Ultimate Family Reunion Essay Contest.

Contestants had to write a 500-word essay explaining why their family is deserving of winning the KFC Ultimate Family Reunion, and what makes their reunions so special. Entries were judged based on originality, creativity, and positive spirit. The winning essay is available online at http://www.kfc.com/pride360

"KFC Pride 360 is proud and excited to host the 2009 Satcher Family Reunion. The Satcher Family truly represents the essence of KFC Pride 360, which means take pride in everything you do – community, heritage, family and individual. The Satcher Reunion will take place from July 17 to 19 at the Atlanta Airport Renaissance Hotel and "The BEACH" at Clayton County International Park in nearby Jonesboro, GA.

Events and activities include a DJ, food, games, prizes, awards, t-shirts, face painting, entertainment, all of the amenities offered at "The BEACH," and much more, according to Satcher Wright.

"We are honored and at the same time, feeling very humble and blessed to be the winning family of the KFC 2009 Ultimate Family Reunion. We are thankful for the magnitude of KFC´s generosity in sponsoring this event which will enable us to come together to celebrate our family´s heritage and legacy in a huge way," said Satcher Wright.
