It is rather simple to find a cabinet manufacturer that is willing to sell cabinets wholesale to kitchen & bath dealers. It is, however, quite a different story to find the right wholesale cabinet manufacturer. Certain questions should come to mind when looking for a wholesale cabinet supplier. We asked Dave with Udells Cabinets, Inc. to help us with the answers.

Interviewer: Do you sell cabinets wholesale?

Dave: We do. Right now we have partners in Wyoming, Idaho, New Mexico, Colorado and of course Utah, because we are located in Utah.

Interviewer: You say you have partners. I was under the impression that you sold to Kitchen & Bath dealers.

Dave: That is correct, but we feel like we are in a partnership with our dealers. You see, if the people that we are selling our cabinets to are not doing well we will not be doing well either. If the company you are buying cabinets from thinks of you as "just another account" they probably wonīt be willing to go the extra mile to make sure you can take care of the customer. It takes a partnership to do a job the customer is going to be happy with.

When looking for a cabinet wholesale cabinet company the first thing I would do is talk to the clients they have. If the company is taking care of the customer, or helping the retail dealer take care of the end customer they wonīt have any problem giving a list of people for a new kitchen & bath company to talk to.

Interviewer: When talking to those referrals what kind of things will the new customer want to ask?

Dave: I would ask what kind of service the wholesale company provides. I mean, lets face it. Any body can build a good cabinet with the kind of tools we have to work with. The companies that survive sell cabinets, but they deal in service. I am going to put a quick plug in for Udells Cabinets. We have been in business since 1975. To survive that long a company has to provide top quality cabinets, as well as providing service that helps their partners provide service and products that are going to make them a top dealership.

Interviewer: So, what are we talking about?

Dave: The first thing is honesty. When you tell someone when a job, be it a kitchen just a broom closet for the porch, going to be complete make sure the job is complete. When you give someone a completion date that you know you canīt meet it makes them look as bad as you. Even if you think you may lose some work, over lead time, be honest.

The second, and maybe the most important part, of service is punch lists. People in the industry know that punch lists are parts that were missed, ordered wrong, or built wrong, that you have to have to complete the job. It doesnīt matter whose fault mistakes are. They have to be corrected quickly. Most homes are just about done when cabinets are being installed. If a wholesale company, or the manufacturer, canīt help correct mistakes quickly tempers will flare. Even if tempers helping your partners complete a job is the right thing to do.

Interviewer: So Dave. If there is one thing that you would like to say about Udells Cabinets what would it be?

Dave: We sell cabinets, but we deal in service. Visit us at www.udells.com and contact Allen to see what services we can provide for you.

Interviewer: I think that is a good idea. Thanks for your time Dave
