About the San Diego Chronicle

The San Diego Chronicle is an independent features-and-analysis newspaper for San Diego. Our parent company is Tribune Publications.

We cover the city in depth rather than in passing: civic life and city hall, the border and the binational economy, the military and the veterans who stay, science and biotech, the coast and the environment, culture and sports. We follow a story past the press release to what it means for the people who live here.

Our standards follow the tradition of the Society of Professional Journalists' Code of Ethics: seek truth and report it, minimize harm, act independently, and be accountable and transparent.

We keep news and opinion strictly separate. Reporters report; they do not take positions on the matters they cover. Opinion pieces are labeled as opinion and signed by their authors.
